About Max

My name is Max Flory. I first discovered diving at the age of 6 while in swimming lessons at my local pool. Diving looked really cool and I bargained with my mom to let me swap out the swimming lessons and join the diving team. In my first year on the team I found myself scared and unwilling to learn new dives at practice, which meant I was unable to compete that season. Missing out on competing motivated me to learn new dives on my own, and I spent the rest of my summer at the pool from open to close. At that point I had fallen completely in love with the sport.

The following year I joined Dominion Dive Club and began diving year-round. Having gained passion and guidance from knowledgable coaches, I quickly excelled to winning Junior National Championships and competing in international events.

I went on to dive at the University of Miami where I learned how to balance academics, athletics, and my social life. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Communication Studies and a Master’s in Sports Administration while training at an elite level and competing both collegiately and internationally for Team USA. I began coaching the Miami Diving club team and my passion for diving extended into helping other’s achieve their dreams.

My journey with diving began with fear and failure, and has grown into becoming National Champion and competing in the World Championships. As I continue on my journey in pursuit of the LA 2028 Olympic Games, I want to use my experience to help other divers excel in the sport. Whatever the next level is for you, I’ve been there, and I’m here to give you insights that I wish I had when I was going through it.
